What we collect
Account, product, and technical data
When you create an account, we collect the information needed to authenticate you, such as your email address and login method. We also store the content you create inside the product, including journal entries, Candle calls, usernames, avatars, friend requests, comments, and related settings.
- Account details such as email address and authentication provider
- Profile data such as username, avatar, and privacy settings
- Journal and Candle activity such as entries, predictions, comments, streaks, and leaderboard data
- Technical and analytics data such as device, browser, pages viewed, and product events used to improve the service
Billing
Payments are handled by Stripe
If you start a paid subscription, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers in candlecandle. We receive limited billing information such as your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, and plan details so we can activate and manage your subscription.
Why we use data
Operating the app, improving the product, and supporting users
We use your information to provide the app, save your entries, sync your profile and social features across devices, process subscriptions, detect abuse, respond to support requests, and understand how the product is being used.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To save, sync, and display your journal and Candle data
- To power social features such as leaderboards, friend requests, and shared profiles
- To process subscriptions and customer support requests
- To measure usage and improve performance, reliability, and UX
Social visibility
Some profile and game information can be visible to other users
If you use the Candle social features, some information such as your username, avatar, leaderboard presence, and certain public game statistics may be visible to other users. Where available, your privacy settings control whether more detailed Candle stats are visible to non-friends.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account from inside the app
When you delete your account from candlecandle, we delete your main account data from the product, including your profile, journal records, Candle records, comments, and friend graph. Some records related to payments, fraud prevention, tax, or legal compliance may need to be retained for longer where required.
Your choices
Access, billing, and support
You can update your profile details inside the app, manage or cancel paid plans through Stripe Customer Portal, and contact support if you need help with your data or account.
